Jonathan R. Lindner, M.D

Dr. Lindner is a Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University where he is the Director of Cardiovascular Imaging and holds the M. Lowell Edwards Professorship of Cardiology. He is also the Chief of the Division of Cardiometabolic Health at the Oregon National Primate Research Center.  Dr. Lindner has expertise in the fields of cardiovascular imaging and microvascular physiology; and is currently the principal investigator on several R01 grants from the National Institutes of Health and a grant from the NASA National Space and Biomedical Research Institute. His research laboratory has pioneered the use of contrast ultrasound for non-invasive molecular imaging of disease and the evaluation of microvascular function/dysfunction. Dr. Lindner is the President Elect for the American Society of Echocardiography and also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography. He is on the Board of Directors and serves as the Vice-chair for the Exam Writing Committee for the National Board of Echocardiography.

 

 

Merri L. Bremer, EdD, RN, ACS, RDCS, FASE, serves on the IAC Echocardiography Board of Directors as a representative of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS). Ms. Bremer is the Education and Quality Coordinator at the Mayo Clinic Echocardiography Lab in Rochester, Minn., and also holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Ms. Bremer is board-certified as a Registered Nurse, and holds the sonographer credentials of RDCS and ACS. In 2015, she earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. In addition to the SDMS, Ms. Bremer is an active member of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), where she is a Fellow and a member of several committees. She also participates in ultrasound accreditation program through Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) and is a member of the CCI ACS Credentialing Exam Committee.During the past 20 years, Ms. Bremer has lectured extensively at national meetings, promoting the topic of sonographer ergonomics, quality improvement, and accreditation; in addition, she has co-authored several publications.

 
Dr Philippe Pibarot   S. Allen Luis

Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at the Institut Universitaire de Cardiologie et de Pneumologie de Quebec

Dr Pibarot is professor at the Department of Medicine of Laval University and holds the Canada Research Chair in Valvular Heart Disease (VHD) at the Québec Heart & Lung Institute, and he is the director of the Echocardiography Core Laboratory at the Québec Heart & Lung Institute. The objective of his research program is to develop and validate novel approaches to improve the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of VHD. He is the principal investigator of several multicenter studies and has published more than 450 articles in the course of his career. He received the Annual Achievement Award of the Canadian Society of Echocardiography (2010), the Research Achievement Award, Canadian Cardiovascular Society (2010), the Feigenbaum Lecture Award, American Society of Echocardiography (2012), and a doctorate “honoris causa” from the University of Liège in Belgium (2017).

S. Allen Luis is the Medical Director of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Echocardiography Program. He is a Cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Ultrasound at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota). He is a member of the Mayo Clinic Echocardiography Core Laboratory, which over reads echocardiograms for numerous large multicenter clinical trials. His clinical and research interests include valvular heart disease, carcinoid heart disease and pericardial disease. His daily practice includes all facets of echocardiography, with a particular interest in the echocardiographic guidance of interventional and intraoperative procedures, speckle tracking echocardiography, and 3-dimensional echocardiography.

Professor Michael Feneley

Professor Michael Feneley is the Director of the Heart Lung Clinical Stream and Cardiology at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, and oversees the Departments of Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Heart and Lung Transplantation. He is Conjoint Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales, was Chairman of the Commonwealth Government’s Cardiac Imaging Management Committee and is a past President of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. He was the inaugural Chairman of the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA). In addition to echocardiography and CTCA, his research interests in the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute include small animal models of cardiovascular diseases, particularly molecular signalling pathways in the control of cardiac hypertrophy and contractility. He is a recipient of the RT Hall Prize and a Life Member of the Cardiac Society. In 2012, he was named a Member of the Order of Australia.
